Monte Uzulu is a small tranquil boutique hotel hidden in the mountains of San Agustinillo, a small beach town in Mexico’s state of Oaxaca. Nestled amongst a thousand-year-old Oaxacan jungle, it is the perfect retreat to reconnect with nature. Inspired by its surroundings, the sustainable hotel is crafted from local and natural materials such as wood, soil, and dried palm leaves.
Monte Uzulu offers 11 cozy suites. Designed by Taller LU’UM, they all feature exposed concrete walls and wooden & rattan furniture by local artisans. Each room also has a large wooden shutter, which opens to a private terrace with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the jungle.
Besides your terrace, Monte Uzulu features plenty of idyllic outdoor spaces for you to hang out and unwind. The hotel also recently added a gorgeous outdoor plunge pool. For meals, the open-air restaurant on-site offers a selection of organic food from small local producers.
